Thunder Funder - Nashville. Woot Woot

Bitcoin 2024 was epic! So much happened, and of course, we left more bullish than ever. Everyone is so excited about the future of the Bitcoin industry. When we get access to the videos of panels from our portfolio founders, we will blast them out so you can catch up on anything you may have missed. For now, we are going to recap our announcement about Thunder Funder.

🟧 We officially announced that Thunder Funder is…a thing! We tried to go hard in the paint for Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville. We had two booths, helped with the pitch day, Satoshi Rockamoto, and had an announcement on the Nakamoto Stage. Good vibes only!

🟧 So WTF, is Thunder Funder? This is a RegCF Funding Portal, which allows almost anyone to invest in early-stage companies or projects. Our focus is on open-source and bitcoin startups. Companies can raise up to $5 million annually with these types of investments. These investments are done on RegCF Funding Portals…. Which we now are…. YayyyyyyY!!!

🟧 Thunder Funder is the next evolution of Lightning Ventures, and it further democratizes access to these opportunities. This activates a whole new type of investor in these otherwise hard-to-access investment opportunities. Now, there is a platform dedicated to investing in open source and bitcoin companies where retail investors can participate.

🟧 What is coming down the road? We have a lot of plans to build out the community and other aspects of Thunder Funder. There’s going to be a lot of resources for founders and companies, as well as “stuff” for aspiring investors. We want to educate! An accelerator or hackathons? A tournament-style leaderboard of companies that are raising cashola?

🟧 Are you looking for funding? Just fill out the form on Thunder Funder, and let’s see if it’s a good fit for the platform. Right now, we can only offer companies on Thunder Funder that are US entities. Same for investors; right now, it’s just US-based individuals and entities. We will be adding integrations for access to 401k and IRA accounts. We’re just getting started, and we’ve got a lot to do.

🟧 No matter where you are, we’re working on building out a community of folks, and everyone is welcome to participate. We want to grow a community that is not just for investors.

🟧 We also had a blast chatting with everyone who stopped by our booths! We had a super cool 3D-printed dart board and gave away a ton of stuff.

🟧 It looks like LNbits will be our first deal on the platform! This should be live in a few weeks, and we’re getting the pipeline packed with loads of open-source and bitcoin companies we all know and love.
